Teen, Miss & Mrs. are judged on the following:
40% interview (5 minute), 50% evening gown, 5% on-stage question & 5% Introduction.
The On-Stage Questions will come from their interview or bio/application.
Attire for Pageant.
Nationals is not a Natural pageant nor is it a high glitz pageant. It is in between at Semi-Glitz to Glitz.
Some contestants wear some make-up and some may even wear a hair piece or extentions. If it enhances her beauty and she is still age appropriate, it is fine.
It is Nationals & not a local pageant or a prelim pageant & with each level of competiton the competition does get higher.
It is the overall look that gets the job done. Some girls do not need all the extra bells & whistles to shine & some do.
For Baby, Teeny & Tiny, short pageant dress is recommended. Little can be either short or long, depending on the girl.
Junior should be long pageant dress. Teen, Miss, & Mrs. should be evening gown/pageant gown.
Introduction should include: (Name, division, contestant number, title, state, system, & a little flavor is ok, but keep it under 20 seconds.)
Introductions will be after the initial opening and parade of contestants. Older divisions 1st. Very simple.
Contestants will follow their division National Queen out and line up beside her.
Then do introductions one at a time beginning with younger divisions & then they will leave the stage.
All Queens & Contestants must/will wear Patriotic outfits of their choosing for the opening & introductions. Think patriotic, flag, red, white, blue, etc.
The walk pattern is walk of choice, BUT for Little-Mrs. it must include a point at the podium for their on-stage question.
There is no rehearsal, you will have time after 10:00am check-in to spend some time on the staging area, go over the opening with our National Queens,
do some final practicing, get a feel for it and ask questions at that time.

(26) The National Southern Miss Scholarship Pageant system is going to extreme measures to insure that the Judges that are selected to Judge Nationals are not familiar with any past or present director, contestant or current reigning Queen. The National Board is contacting an outside source to contact another States State Pageant Judges Board (unknown to us) to screen, select and communicate with. Also, upon the Judges arrival they will remain with a judges escort at all times. This is so that no contestant, family member, emcee,  director or anyone on the National Board, etc has any contact at any time with the judges. Are system is very animate about insuring fairness in every possible way. You can watch the paper trail/score sheets go from the judges, to the Auditor and then to the emcee. At no time will this chain of custody be broken by anyone. Also  If we can think of any other things to insure the fairness of our system we will implement them also.
